1981

Establishment

Winkel was established in Otaru City.
Founded by Masahiro Yonehana, who served as the first Ski School Principal.

1984

Establishment of Winkel Co., Ltd.

Winkel Co., Ltd. was established in Inaho, Otaru City.

1985

First Vacation Rental Opens in Asarigawa Onsen

Launched vacation rental business in Asarigawa Onsen with the opening of our first rental villa.

1987

Business Alliance with JAPANADA Enterprise Inc.

Established as a local corporation providing guide services at Whistler Resort, Canada in 1987.

Reorganized and resumed operations in June 1997.

Currently supporting Whistler's tourism industry in various ways, including medical interpretation services, and serving numerous tourists and skiers.

1988

Relocated Company Headquarters to Asarigawa Onsen, Otaru

Began full-scale development of lodging facilities and activity programs in Asarigawa Onsen.

Since our founding, we have continuously provided accommodation and recreational activities. Current facilities include 6 condominium units with private onsen open-air baths (capacity: 29 guests) and 11 vacation rental villas (capacity: 91 guests), totaling 16 units.

In May 2024, we introduced a dedicated building for guests with pets.

1989

Ski Guide Training Program in Canada (Whistler & Blackcomb)

Started operating as the Japanese liaison office for ski guide training program recruitment in Canada (Whistler & Blackcomb) in partnership with JAPANADA Enterprise Inc.

Program conducted from 1989 to 1997 season, with approximately 160 graduates.

1991

Establishment of Ski Instructor Development Program

1993

Corporate Restructuring to Winkel Corporation

Reorganized as Winkel Corporation (Kabushiki Kaisha Winkel).

1995

Official Recognition from SIA (Ski Instructors Association of Japan)
Currently known as Professional Ski Instructors Association of Japan

Focused on providing private lessons, school trip instruction, and staff dispatch services to various ski schools.

Launch of "100 Days Ski & Snowboard LIFE in Whistler, Canada"

In partnership with JAPANADA Enterprise Inc., operated as the planning and recruitment office for the "100 Days Ski & Snowboard LIFE in Whistler" program.

Program conducted from 1995 to 2005.

1996

Opening of Asarigawa Onsen Auto Campground

Opened as one of Hokkaido's rare privately-operated auto campgrounds.

Currently offering a variety of outdoor experiences including powered auto-camping sites, two bungalow units, and indoor camping cabins, providing diverse outdoor lifestyle options for our guests.

1999

Launch of Snowshoe Tours

Winkel Snow School began offering private snowshoe tours.

First Otaru Snow Light Path Festival

Managed event planning and Otaru Canal operations since the first Otaru Snow Light Path Festival in 1999.

Responsibilities included:
- Installation and management of floating candles in Otaru Canal
- Management of the canal area and former Temiya Line candle displays
- Recruitment and coordination of international volunteer staff

Active involvement from 1999 to 2020.

2001

Business Partnership with WINKEL KOREA

WINKEL KOREA engaged in sports equipment import/export and facilitated ski instructor exchanges between Japan and Korea.

From 2001 to 2007, manufactured and distributed Winkel brand ski wear.

2004

SIA Demonstrator Training Camp Coordination in Korea by WINKEL KOREA

From 2004 to 2010 season, WINKEL KOREA coordinated on-site training camps for demonstrators from SIA (Ski Instructors Association of Japan, currently Professional Ski Instructors Association of Japan) at Korean ski resorts.

Launch of Asarigawa Onsen "Snow Light Path Festival"

Started planning and managing the Asarigawa Onsen "Snow Light Path Festival."

Activities included candle lighting and maintenance along Asarigawa River, and coordination of international volunteer staff.

Active from 2004 to 2020.

2006

Management of Asari Dam Tennis Courts

Contracted for reception services by NPO Yuragi Community Development Association.
2006 - Present

Opening of Otaru Boyo Ski Jump Auto Campground

Opened an auto campground at the foot of the ski jump course, managed under contract from NPO Yuragi Community Development Association. The facility can accommodate events for up to 300 people.

2016

Establishment of HISIS (Hokkaido International Snow Instructor Service)

Established and operated HISIS to provide services for international visitors.

2023

Joined SASSON Corporation Group

WINKEL Corporation joined the SASSON Corporation Group through a capital alliance.

2024

Opening of ASARI LOUNGE

Soft opening of ASARI Lounge as an activity and information center through partnership with Sasson.
