About WINKEL SNOW SCHOOL
- An SIA Certified School
WINKEL SNOW SCHOOL is an SIA (Ski Instructors Association of Japan) certified school based at Otaru Asarigawa Onsen Ski Resort.
SIA is Japan's premier professional organization affiliated with the International Ski Instructors Association (ISIA), dedicated to providing technical instruction for all snow sports, including skiing.
Since receiving SIA certification in 1993, WINKEL SNOW SCHOOL has been providing personalized instruction for everyone - from first-time skiers and snowboarders to those seeking technical improvement and nature enthusiasts. Our teaching methods are tailored to each individual's ability, regardless of age, gender, or physical condition.
Our mission is to ensure that everyone can enjoy snow sports safely throughout their lives. For over 30 years, we have been sharing in our customers' joy and smiles.
Asarigawa Onsen Ski Resort
Just 20 minutes by car from central Otaru and 15 minutes from downtown Otaru, with convenient walking access from Asarigawa Onsen accommodations. The slopes offer spectacular panoramic views of the Sea of Japan.

Otaru's mountainous terrain and location facing the Sea of Japan result in abundant high-quality snow during winter.
Depending on weather conditions, many resorts offer powder snow experiences even within their groomed areas.
From WINKEL Village (our accommodation facility) located in this prime snow sports area, you can access a ski resort within a 5-minute walk,
and Hokkaido's most popular ski resorts are just 40 minutes to 1 hour away by car.

Asarigawa Onsen Ski Resort"
Our home resort, just a 5-minute walk from WINKEL Village. The slopes offer spectacular views of the Sea of Japan, and the hot spring town at the base provides perfect relaxation after sports.
Sapporo Kokusai Ski Resort
Located in Jozankei, southern Sapporo, this resort features powder snow and expansive slopes. With a maximum run of 3.6km and seven varied courses, it caters to everyone from children and beginners to advanced skiers.
Kiroro Snow World
Located in Akaigawa Village, Yoichi District of Hokkaido, Kiroro Snow World is nestled between two mountains and blessed with pure dry powder snow. The resort features 23 courses with a maximum length of 4,050m, plus 5 powder riding areas, offering enjoyment for everyone from beginners to advanced skiers.
SAPPORO TEINE
SAPPORO TEINE, a former Olympic venue, features diverse courses suitable for all levels from beginners to experts, children to adults, along with numerous convenient facilities. The resort offers approximately 16km of total runs across its Highland Zone and Olympia Zone.
Snow Cruise ONZE
Snow Cruise Onze offers spectacular ocean views overlooking the Sea of Japan. Open for night skiing until 11 PM, the resort features a range of courses from gentle 6-degree slopes for beginners to challenging 30-degree downhill runs and mogul courses for advanced skiers.
Mt. TENGU Ropeway & Ski Resort
Just 15 minutes by car from central Otaru, Mt. TENGU is a symbolic landmark of the city. The resort features five diverse courses suitable for everyone from families to advanced skiers, including the challenging 'New Course' with ungroomed terrain and a maximum slope of 40 degrees.

From WINKEL SNOW SCHOOL's base at WINKEL Village (accommodation facility) in Otaru Asarigawa Onsen, there are several ski resorts with excellent snow conditions.
